Lothian Psychology Ltd is an Edinburgh based company offering psychological services. Broadly, the company has two arms – providing reports to Courts and running psycho-education groups and therapy.  The company was initially set up as Lothian Psychological Assessments Ltd in 2015 and offered only a Court report services to solicitors. Due to huge demand for psychological services for adults and young people the company changed to Lothian Psychology Ltd in September 2018.

Lothian Psychology was founded by Dr Louise Potter, Consultant Clinical Psychologist in July 2015. She is chartered by and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Dr Potter graduated from the University of Aberdeen with Honours in Psychology in 2001, then qualified as a Clinical Psychologist with a D.Clin.Psychol from the University of Edinburgh in 2007. Dr Potter worked in the NHS until December of 2019 when she left to persue her private practice full time. She worked up to Consultant Clinical Psychologist and undertook a variety of roles across specialisms.

The company recognised the need within the legal community for a top quality psychological assessment service and a shortage of qualified Clinical Psychologists able and willing to provide assessments. Dr Potter undertakes assessments whereby parenting and attachment are the main areas of interest and this crosses both adults and children. She has appeared at Sheriff Court’s across Scotland to give testimony as an Expert Witness in cases where parenting is being called into question. To date, Dr Potter has compiled a total of 45 Permanence reports and appeared in Sheriff court as expert witness on 13 occasions.
